My website is not loading

Work through this in order. It takes a few minutes and usually identifies the cause.

1. Is it just you?

Try a private window, another browser, and mobile data instead of your Wi-Fi. If it loads elsewhere, the problem is local - your cache, your network or your DNS.

2. Check Service status

Sign in and open Service status. If an incident is listed, it is already in hand.

3. What exactly does it say?

  • "Server not found" / DNS error - the domain is not resolving. Check it has not expired, and that the nameservers are right.
  • 403 Forbidden - permissions, or a missing index file.
  • 404 - the site is up but that page is not there.
  • 500 - the site's code failed. The error log will say why.
  • 503 - temporarily unavailable or overloaded.
  • Certificate warning - an HTTPS problem, not a hosting outage.
  • A holding page - the domain is pointing at us but the files are not where they should be.

4. Is the service active?

Check Services in your Client Area. A suspended service is usually an unpaid invoice.

5. Has the domain expired?

Check the expiry date under Domains. An expired domain stops resolving, and the site appears to vanish entirely.

6. What changed?

A plugin, a theme, a PHP version, a DNS edit, an .htaccess change. Undo the most recent one and see.

Still stuck
