Nameservers are what connect your domain name to your hosting.

In simple terms, they tell the internet where your website and email live.

How It Works

When someone types your domain into a browser (e.g. yourdomain.co.uk), nameservers point that request to your hosting account.

Without the correct nameservers, your website and email won’t work properly.

What Do Nameservers Look Like?

They usually look something like this:

  • ns1.yourhosting.co.uk
  • ns2.yourhosting.co.uk

You’ll receive your exact nameservers in your welcome email.

When Do You Need to Update Nameservers?

You’ll need to update your nameservers if:

  • You’ve bought your domain from a different provider
  • You’re moving your website to Little Moo Hosting
  • Your website or email isn’t working yet

Where Do You Change Nameservers?

Nameservers are updated where your domain is registered (your domain provider).

This could be:

  • Us (Little Moo Hosting)
  • Or another provider (like GoDaddy, 123 Reg, etc.)

How Long Does It Take?

After updating nameservers:

  • Most changes happen within a few hours
  • In some cases, it can take up to 24 hours

This is normal and part of how the internet works.
