Understanding Advanced Control

Advanced Control is the entry point to the deeper hosting tools for your service. This article explains what it is, and when you actually need it.

Two levels, one login

Your Client Area covers the things most customers need: what you have, what state it is in, what it costs, your domains, your support requests and your account details.

Advanced Control covers the technical layer underneath: files, databases, DNS records, scheduled tasks, logs and similar. It opens from your Client Area and needs no separate account.

When you need it

  • Uploading or editing website files directly
  • Creating or managing a database
  • Editing individual DNS records
  • Setting up a scheduled task
  • Reading raw log files

When you do not

Checking your storage use, seeing which domains are attached to a service, finding your nameservers or checking a renewal date are all in the Client Area. You do not need Advanced Control for any of them.

If a tool is missing

The tools shown depend on your plan. Anything your plan does not include simply will not appear. That is not a fault.

If you would rather we did it

Open a support request and describe what you are trying to achieve rather than the step you are stuck on. It is often a two-minute job for us.
